14th Stop: Eurasian Community House

They boys decided to bring the girls to place they had in mind where they wanted to write the final chapter of this story. Along the way, they passed by the Eurasian community house where the girls decided to head in to have a look. There happened to be an exhibition on Eurasian culture and customs.

[ too excited to take jumpshots! ]

The Eurasian community has played an integral role in the history of Katong/Joo Chiat, with their unique blend of European and Asian culture. Their love for music and merry-making in the early days lent an air of revelry to the area. Eurasian Community House is opened for all 7 days a week. We did not have the chance to enter the community house, but we understand that Eurasian community were considered one of the richest community in Katong, which was known to be the area where elites lived in.

Coincidentally, our current president, Mr S R Nathan’s residence is just opposite the community house, heavily guarded with numerous surveillance cameras.'

[ yay! KATONG FOR THE WIN! ]

They learned many interesting facts about a culture that was foreign to them. After close to an hour in the house, the girls came to an abrupt stop before the exhibition on Eurasian wedding customs and traditions.

"This must be a hint!" the boys thought.
